I have to start off by saying that I read some reviews for To The Fall before I started reading - mainly, I think, because there were a few on the lower rating scale and TBH, I did start to wonder WTH, am I gonna like this book???...... well, it's a truth that what's not for some can often be another readers favourite... Prescott Lane's latest release has proven that is indeed the case for me!!

I adored Pierce, even when he was being a tw@t.... maybe I've got a soft spot for the fictional kinda-messed-up, want to slap him stupid, manwhore, I don't know but, whatever it is, I liked him from the get go.
Underneath that commitment-phobic, flirty, woman lover there was a vulnerability and a heart. You could sense that ultimately he was a good man - that was obvious from the way he looked after the ladies he cared for, Annie & Tawny, and also the ones he left after the fun was over (it could also be viewed as cold and a buy-out I suppose, but, I was choosing to see the little bit of good that slipped through!).

From the moment he met Sutton though he was fighting a losing battle, in more ways than one! Yeah, he let her down, even though at that point there was more a possibility of something rather than anything happening between them, I was still pissed at him.....but at the same time couldn't help but speculate about what had made him this way - and speculate I did. I thought it would be one scenario, only to change my mind to something else and then Prescott threw us another possibility - by then I wasn't sure what to think as I was all over the place. My initial suspicion proved to be the correct one but in a darker light than I had thought!

Sutton, she was a gem. Strong, determined, she could see something in Pierce, even though she had heard all of the gossip about him. She was open to seeing how things went, and even when he hit rock bottom and let her down that first time, she didn't flee. She was everything he had ever needed but never realised he would want. She wholeheartedly believed in love, commitment and forever but could she ever get Pierce on the same wavelength?

Watching him fall was fab, watching him fall apart was heartbreaking, knowing that she was there with him made it worth the hurt.

I liked Annie, sure, at one point in their lives this pair would have most likely made a great couple but given their history and secrets, they reached a point where that was never gonna happen but I was glad that he'd had someone caring about him the way she did.

Well written and nicely paced with heat, chemistry, some angst, uncertainty and heartache and all the emotional feels!.
I really liked Prescott's use of flashbacks, the appointments with Dr L, the fact that we had the leading man's POV for a change, the slow burn between Sutton and Pierce, his return visit to Dr L and that epilogue - this book grabbed me, so much so that I read it in a day, devouring it in breaks at work and doing nothing but read until I finished it once I got home!!

This story gets 5 falling stars from me!!

To the Fall edition by Prescott Lane Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This book takes you into a journey,Pierce 'journey. When we first meet him we come across a successful, wealthy, handsome player, who is set to go through life without forming a real romantic relationship with any woman. However, circumstances change and he is forced to face his past and why he is like this and that is when his journey truly begins. This book has depth and Pierce is a complex character,he is sweet, caring and protective of the ones he loves, namely his little sister and childhood friend but never letting anyone else get close to him until he meets Suttan. The way she pushes his boundaries and he starts to fall for her is so sweet. Together they build a beautiful story and she helps Pierce to face his deamons never leaving his side. She is a wonderful character, sweet, caring and supportive. This book is extremely well written, it is intense and emotional with deep characters and a beautiful epilogue! It is a great reading that once you start you won't be able to put it down.
To the Fall by Prescott Lane
4 stars!!!

“I need you to be brave…Brave enough to love me.”

Prescott Lane writes a poignant read that you will not truly understand until you finish the book. While many may give up in the beginning, because, to be honest, Pierce is a total sex addict, manho type, unless you can see past the cry for help, you won’t appreciate the story that Prescott Lane carves. I had my little inklings as to how this story was going to go, and while I was wrong, it was kind of on the right lines and while I didn’t truly feel one aspect of this read fitted with what came before it, this was Prescott Lane’s story to tell.

“Hate the sin, but love the sinner.”

I will say, the one thing I didn’t like was that the villain in this story was let off the hook. I felt that Prescott Lane had an amazing platform to bring to the fore a subject that is not explored or given any book space and this could have been so much more, in my honest opinion. However, I understand why she probably didn’t and the story that was presented was absolutely perfect on so many other levels.

When I posted about this release, I stated that Pierce would capture many hearts and while some readers who are reading the beginning are probably thinking I am completely nuts you need to give Pierce the benefit of the doubt. When Pierce is first introduced and as his proclivities are shared with the reader I knew that this was his cry for help. Some may see him as a completely asinine commitment-phobe, but between the lines, I knew he was scared and he was hiding something. My brain ran the gamut a mile a minute and Prescott Lane makes us wait to truly understand the real Pierce Kingston, and when you do, your heart breaks, it decimates, it detonates and all you will want to do is give him the biggest hug and say that everything will be OK.

“What you love, you’ll do the work for.”

I adored Sutton from the very beginning and although her and Pierce were chalk and cheese he needed someone like her to bring him to his knees. It is Sutton though that makes him want to be a better man, Sutton gives Pierce a reason to truly understand himself and see that how he was before they met was his way of protecting himself and not something that was ingrained into him and could never be removed.

“I’ve got options. You aren’t the only man in the world. You should always remember that.”

The reader is witness to Pierce’s internal struggles as with the help of a therapist he finally starts to battle his demons. The way Pierce’s struggles were detailed was honest and real and I am glad that the author didn’t go with the auto fix. Pierce failed, time and time again, until he didn’t. But this made him more real, more human, honest and gave me the one thing that I crave, character connection.

“That’s what love is. Your hopes and dreams become mine, and mine yours. Your fears and fights become my battles.”

The ending of this book is something I never saw coming, although the author does a great job of leading you down the wrong path, which was incredibly clever, while also being incredibly mean, it was none the less jaw dropping. As I said above, while I wish this ended a little differently, the author dealt with this topic sensitively while also protecting those that would have been harmed in the aftermath. For me, this could have easily been a five-star read if somethings had happened a little differently. A shout out needs to go to Pierce’s best friend, Annie. The relationship that these two had was breath taking while also being heart breaking. For two people that started their friendship as little impressionable kids, they had been through so much together and their loyalty to one and other knew no bounds. Friendships like that are once in a lifetime and that was certainly true with these two. Great book.
I read the first chapter as a sample and pulled the trigger on this one and I am so glad that I did!! This is my first read by Prescott Lane and she knocked it out of the ball park! I started this afternoon and could not put it down. I was gripped from the start!!! Pierce is a boutique hotel owner in New Orleans. He brings new meaning to manwhore. He uses sex as a drug. Until he meets Sutton, the one woman who tells him no. Add to this a court ordered therapist that puts him on a sex diet. Pierce is in for the ride of his life!!!! This book will engage you and pull you deeper into Pierce's story until you do not even realize that you are falling. Here is To The Fall--it truly is one of the best books I have read this year!!!
