A Soldier Forgiven eBook A Petrov

I find I like A. Petrov's writing style a lot. The heroines in the books are all rather resourcefull, not too proud but trying to do their best, not supersoldiers but regulars doing what they can to the best of their abilities. In this particular story the leading lady goes through a lot of personal growth, does make mistakes but owns up and corrects her course. The Baath Warriors are of course real treats, can't deny that… What most bugs me is that the authors books are a bit difficult to find, you need to know to look for them! The first I found through dumb luck and I've tried to remember checking every once in a while specifically for these stories. I like the universe and the backstory and I hope it will be expanded upon sometime, maybe short story anthology type?

A Soldier Forgiven eBook A Petrov Reviews

I've read three of this author's other books and liked them a lot.
I am not sure why this one was so different. It was a very slow start and fairly bland plot wise. The heroine was kind of a mess.
The HEA is implied as the book ends without much resolution.
Recommended as filler only.
good book
Extremely average. The heroine was a foolish woman and a lot of the book was spent meandering through her thoughts of guilt/shame/regret over the past etc - got to be a wee bit repetitive and boring. I skim read most of it. The hero was great but didn't have much of a contribution to the majority of the book. I enjoyed the first book - a soldier in love - but this one was disappointing.
If you enjoyed the first novel, A Soldier in Love, I think you will enjoy this second novel. Earth has been taken over by evil alien conquerors. Many survivors take to space and settle on other worlds. This story follows the Parisa, a scientist who like almost all other Earth citizens, has been conscripted by Earth Army, global military formed in the hopes of trying to fight against the threatening alien forces. Parisa is shipped out to another planet as it appears Earth is losing the war. This is where her fight for survival becomes even more desperate, just as Parisa also has to contend with personal demons of her past. In a whirlwind of emotional and physical struggles, Parisa encounters an alien male, Magnus, who slowly wins her heart. It is a slow burn sweet love story that develops and we also get to visit briefly with the hero and heroine of the first story. I enjoyed the story and I certainly hope there will be further novels in this series.
