I usually really enjoy Rachel Gibson's books. They have engaging characters and lots of humor. Not this one. I really did not like Nick. Yep, he had some crappy stuff happen as a kid and I totally understood why he never wanted to make amends with Henry but his complete disrespect for women including Delaney was just too strong. Maybe if it had only been for half the book and then he reformed but 95% of the book was him being an A** and then a quick oh I'm sorry at the end was supposed to make it all okay? Not for me.This book centered around Delaney who left Truly, Idaho at 18 and never looked back. She left behind her controlling step father and a mother who wanted to change almost everything about her. She's been roaming from place to place until her step-father dies and she returns for his funeral. In a last ditch effort to control her, she has to stay in Truly for one year in order to gain her half of the inheritance which is 3 million dollars. Delaney wants nothing more than to be free but with that kind of money she can open her own salon. Nick is the illegitimate son of Henry and he was never acknowledged until Henry found out he was dying and realized with no legitimate children his legacy wouldn't continue. Nick is left two very expensive pieces of property and all he has to do is not engage in a sexual relationship with Delaney for one year. This wouldn't be a problem, except Delaney is the one woman Nick has always secretly been attracted to.
I enjoy bad boy or rebel hero in a lot of books but not if they spend almost the entire book purposely hurting the heroine. Every once in awhile he would do something somewhat nice for her but it wasn't near enough to overlook the derogatory comments he made to her or the way he purposely set out to hurt and humiliate her even after they got together. I wanted to see the hurt little boy inside Nick come out. I wanted to see him open up to Delaney but that never happened. At the end I couldn't figure out how in the world she fell in love with Nick. Sexual attraction sure, love no way. Nick completely accepts himself including his rude and derogatory behavior towards women. He's honest about it but never really feels bad about it and that doesn't make it acceptable to me.
Honestly I was just left disappointed and disgusted.

Truly Madly Yours Rachel Gibson 9780380801213 Books Reviews
Delaney Shaw has been in love with Nick Allegrezza since they were kids. The unacknowledged illegitimate son of her stepfather, Nick saw Delaney live a charmed life. Fleeing her stepfather's control at eighteen, Delaney was forced to come back to Truly after his death and to confront her past. Always told with moments of laugh out loud humor, this one will grab your heart. ABSOLUTELY A GIBSON WINNER!
Rachel Gibson has an uncommon talent she can actually write genuine, funny heart warming stories populated with REAL people. It is so refreshing to read about a contemporary heroine who doesn't wear slacks or blouses or worst of all pumps.Ms. Gibson seems to be the only contemporary author who realizes that no one under fifty wears that crap.
Delaney is a delightful young modern woman we can all relate to who happens to wear platforms instead of pumps and vinyl and spandex instead of cashmere. Nick is a gorgeous Levis wearing hunk who is head over heels in love with Delaney since they were kids but he believed Delaney was out of his reach because she was the mayor's stepdaughter and he was his illegitimate son. Delaney in turn thinks Nick hated her because she was raised in luxury by Nick's biological father who denied his real son everything she had.
Nick and Delaney are brought together after ten years apart by a bizarre stipulation in the late mayor's will. In such close proximity (Truly is a very small town) they are forced to face their feelings for each other and when they do the sparks will fly!
This is a well-written, funny, sometimes poignant love story that will leave a smile on your face. Highly recommended! )
This was such an amazing story with lots of love, romance and a great storyline.
I enjoyed this story from the very first page and the pace of this book was just right. The characters were exceptionally well-written and I enjoyed how the author developed the romance between the characters.
Definitely a five-star rating for this book.
This is one of my favorite Rachel Gibson books. I have every one of her books on my kind!e and frequently read them again. No one writes the flirty sharp, back and forth banter like Rachel. Some sizzle, some spice but not sleazy. Perfect!
A fantastic book! I couldn't put it down. This is one of my favorite romance novels to date. This is a funny, warm, sexy, and VERY HOT story set in a small town in Idaho. There are no lulls to this story - and what a satisfying ending!! I almost never re-read books, but I will this one. Plus, Nick has to be the hottest, sexiest lead guy in any romance novel I've ever read. (For a book with a similar hunk, read Susan Donovan's "Knock Me Off My Feet". Stacey Quinn reminds me a lot of Nick in the way he teases and temps his heroine, plus he has a heart of gold you will simply fall in love with.)
In Truly Madly Yours, Delaney's estranged stepfather (and Nick's biological dad) died and left a will with some odd stipulations. Despite a ten-year absence from Idaho and her family, she must now live in Truly Idaho with her mother for one year to collect over 3 million dollars. Nick - his illegitimate son who he didn't acknowledge until it was way too late - must keep his hands off of Delaney for one year to get a mass of land as his inheritance. Even from his grave the loathed stepfather is trying to control their lives. Why? Convinced that Nick will find Delaney's presence too tempting to resist, and knowing that there was once sparks between Nick and Delaney, his dying hope was that they consummate a relationship and carry on the family bloodline.
I like this book had a good story line and the couple was interesting. The only thing was it took till the end of the book to get any interesting information. I will read this author she has a nice way about telling a story. There are quite a few raunchy sex scenes but you can read over them or skip them , a good story don't need all the raunchy sex.
